About Us
"We both love cats... we have four cats of our own. Two were adopted in the summer of 2024, and our original two cats were adopted through Cats Protection in 2014".
We are Lisa and Mark and have owned and run Timbers Boarding Cattery Ltd in Tharston, Norfolk since November 2022.​

We spent many years searching for the right cattery but the right one eluded us until the Summer of 2022 when we came across Timbers in Norfolk and within six months we made the move here. I gave up my job in London and a 3 hour daily commute and Mark came out of retirement! Our lifestyle has changed dramatically since we moved but, as all cattery owners will tell you, it is hard work but worth it.

We have been fortunate to have many repeat customers who have been coming here for years and also welcomed many many new customers too from all over Norfolk, Suffolk and even Essex.
​
We are gradually making changes and upgrading the cattery but this will take time. We plan to close the cattery at least twice a year to allow for us to carry out maintenance works and to recharge our own batteries as we are welcoming fur babies here seven days a week for most of the year so there is very little rest particularly during the Summer and Autumn months and again at Christmas/New Year.

We have a great team of cattery assistants who ensure the cattery rooms are kept hygienically clean during your cat’s stay and deep-cleaned after departure. They also spend time with the cats playing and grooming them too, along with supplying lots of cuddles. Many returning cats are much loved here by all of us and are often remembered and talked about even when they are not staying with us.

The Cattery
The cattery is set within the private garden of the property and all cattery rooms overlook the garden or have a large side window to look out of at either end of the cattery.
Timbers is pleased to say that our electric usage is covered at 100% by renewables i.e. solar, solar battery and via a share in a co-operative wind farm.
Accommodation
Family Room – we can accommodate up to 6 cats from the same family in this room. It has a large bedroom area and large enclosure looking out through floor to ceiling windows onto the garden.

Large rooms – we have a variety of different sized large rooms that can accommodate up to 4 cats comfortably.
​
Small Double Rooms – we have a variety of single/small double rooms suitable for 1 – 2 cats.​​

Each bedroom area has a thermostatically controlled panel heater which is on during the late Autumn months through to Spring so your fur babies will be snug and toasty during their stay.

The cattery has a safety hallway with a double door procedure and all the opening windows are covered with a strong mesh so we can have fresh air into the cattery.
​
We supply beds, blankets, litter trays, litter, water bowls, food bowls, toys and a variety of cat stands.
​
We also have an isolation unit should a cat become unwell during their stay with us.
​
Upon departure, each room is fully sanitized using vet approved disinfectant and set up with clean water bowls, dry food bowls, litter tray and litter, cat stand and bed with fleece/blankets and toys ready for new arrivals.
​
Many cats like to be nosey and to see what is going on so they are quite happy to have a room anywhere in the cattery. However, if your cat is exceptionally nervous or anxious please let us know and we can accommodate them in quieter rooms.

We have boarded cats from 5 months to 20 years old, cats with three legs or one eye, we love them all. We can even accommodate blind cats which we have done over the past couple of years. We can give medication in tablet or liquid form only.
We ensure the highest degree of comfort and security with loving care for every cat.

We are licensed for a maximum of 65 cats by South Norfolk Council under Licence Number 23/02347/AAL with 34 different sized rooms throughout the cattery.

Meals are included in the full price of accommodation. However, if you wish to supply your cat’s own food for the duration of their stay then we can offer a 5% discount. Please supply your cat’s food particularly if they eat specialist veterinary food. We do have a fridge and freezer to store raw and cooked meat supplied by you such as Katkin.
If you choose for us to supply the food, we stock wet food as follows: Whiskas, Felix Original, Felix As Good As It Looks, Sheba, Gourmet pouches, tins and pate and Purina. We also supply dry food – Whiskas, Go-Cat, Purina (normal, sensitive and light versions), IAMS and Hills. We also have a treat box for those guests who have forgotten their stash of Dreamies!
We serve two meals a day at breakfast and teatime. Please do let us know on arrival if your cat requires a third meal at lunchtime. Every room has at least two big bowls of fresh water.

Monday to Friday: 10am – 12pm and 4pm – 5.30pm
We would prefer arrivals to be settled by 5pm as we start the tea service then.
Saturday: 10am – 1pm / Afternoon Closed
Sunday: 10am – 11.30am / Afternoon Closed
